The Orange World

Well, would you look at that?  More than a year since I was last here.  Which goes to show that I DO have better things to be doing!!

So, what's happened since I was last here?  Hmmm.  Been back to the hospital twice - second allergic reaction, this time to the ceftazidime.  Was told to take antihistamines in the morning which have so far worked.  Then yesterday the line blocked in the morning.  Joy!  So, there went another 2 hours while we waited for a doctor to become free to unblock it.  Since then, all has been fine...touch wood!!  Mind you, I've been doing nothing but sleep...actually, I quite like it!! 

It just had to happen...spent all morning asleep again (after opening presents - Bert and Ernie have been reunited so the world can breathe a sigh of relief!) and woke up at 3 in the afternoon looking a bit blotchy.  The nurse came in at 4, looked at me and gave me my afternoon dose.  Then, over the next 4 hours I started to look really good as the rash got progressively worse.  By the time the evening nurses showed up they decided they weren't going to give me my evening dose in case it pushed me over the edge.  Instead they got onto Normed at the hospital and the Doctor asked me to go down to see him.

 

So, I spent more or less 2 hours down there waiting with a bunch of other sick people.  Went in to see him and he looked at me and decided he needed to seek advice.  Typically, it's the weekend that ENT were closed here and everything was transferred to Milton Keynes.  So, he called there and they advised that I stop taking the antibiotics and said that as long as there were no obvious signs of my ear worsening I should be OK to hold out until ENT opens here again on Wednesday.  Wish me luck!! 

Another fun filled day...booked an interview yesterday (if I can go!) for January.  Hopefully get me a job for next summer.  Is it unreasonable to say that I only want to work in the one place?  Probably, but if I don't ask I won't get.  Probably still won't get, but at least I won't end up wondering 'what if'...  I am going on the train, which leaves at 7am!!!  Me? Up at that time of the morning?  It'll be difficult!  Only cost £13.30 return and I'm one for a bargain, so...

 

Ear is still attached to the side of my head.  Went to the hospital yesterday (he's clearly still head over heels in love with me as he wasn't there...).  I am making progress, and just need to go again on 4th January.

 

I am now nearly fluent in Dutch.  I have at least five words, so half my work is done.  According to my emails, my books on order have been dispatched so maybe they'll arrive in the morning?  Then I can sit and frown at them and give myself brain ache...I just don't get it yet!

Still sitting in front of the computer - right now I'm speaking to Little Orange...tee hee!!

 

Am due at the hospital tomorrow...will see what they say.  Wonder if they'll shorten the treatment...I can hope!!
